Insurance Coverage

Under the Affordable Care Act, women’s preventive health care, including comprehensive lactation support and counseling by a trained provider, is covered with no cost-sharing (no deductible, no copay) for new health plans.  For most insurance policies, this came into effect in August of 2012.  Some insurance policies have been "grandfathered in," and will not comply with these regulations until the policy is renewed. Aetna and Banner Aetna:

We are preferred providers for Aetna and can bill directly for lactation consultations for most Aetna and Banner Aetna subscribers. However, check with your insurance carrier before your visit to verify your benefits and ensure we are in-network for your particular plan. NOTE: We no longer accept Meritain Health, a subsidiary of the Aetna Network.

AHCCCS Plans:

AHCCCS does not currently cover lactation support services. However, we do have low-cost visits available for AHCCCS members. Please choose “AHCCCS/WIC Low Cost Visit” when scheduling.

Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Humana, and United Healthcare PPO:

We use The Lactation Network to bill your insurance. Most families are eligible for at least six visits. To qualify, please complete their intake form. Choose: “ I already have an IBCLC that I’d like to be paired with” and enter Arizona Breastfeeding Center. We should hear back on coverage by the next business day. NOTE: United Community Healthcare Plans are AHCCCS plans, and they do not cover lactation support services. However, we do have low-cost visits available for AHCCCS members. Please choose “AHCCCS/WIC Low Cost Visit” when scheduling.

Other Insurance Providers:

We accept HSA and FSA cards and will provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
